10 PRINCIPLES OF HIGH FLYING ACHIEVERS. IF YOU LEARN THEM, YOU CAN BE ONE!

Anyone wants to be an achiever. Desire to be great is inborn in all of us. If you are reading this now, my instinct tells me that you desire to live beyond ordinary. I am pleased to tell you that your desire is noble and honorable. But desire alone is not enough. A story is told about a young man with a tremendous passion to be an achiever in life. He wanted to make his mark. So he decided to visit a man who the whole community recognized as a genius-a man with a wealth of experiences.

“What brings you to me?” the elderly man asked

“I want to become successful; I desire to be an achiever” Replied the young man

The old man smile and said, “That is very simple, all you need to do is to find out what successful people do, and replicate in your own life”

My assignment in this article is to help you organize a set of principles of high flying achievers; your assignment is to replicate it in your life.  The principles are as follows:

1. Know what you want.

This is the simplest but most powerful of all principles of high flying achievers, knowing what you want in life. You can’t go south travelling through North. You must be able to specify what you really want to do, be and have in life. Your vision is your picture of your future. Remember if you don’t have dreams, there will be no dreams to fulfill. James Allen strongly advised:

“Dream lofty dreams, and as you dream, so shall you become. Your vision is the promise of what you shall one day be; your Ideal is the prophecy of what you shall at last unveil.”

2. Know what you don’t Want.

Just as important as stating what you want out of life, you must be able to also know what you don’t want in life. Why? Because, life has no predetermined value on you except the once you either consciously or unconsciously place on yourself. You should be able to state what YOU WILL NOT ACCEPT IN LIFE NO MATTER THE CONDITION.

Jessie B. Rittenhouse writes:

“I bargained with Life for a penny, And Life would pay no more, however I begged at evening when I counted my scanty store.

“For Life is a just employer; He gives you what you ask, but once you have set the wages, why, you must bear the task.

“I worked for a menial’s hire, only to learn, dismayed, that any wage I had asked of Life, Life would have paid.”

3. Make Your Passion Your Work.

Job becomes fun when you are working on what you have passion for. Look around you the people who are truly fulfilled in life are people who have made their passion their job. Zig Ziglar Coaches, John.C Maxwell trains, Anthony Robbins motivates, Shakespeare writes, Messi plays football, Tiger wood plays golf…Success becomes fun when passion romances with work. When you find your passion, you won’t look for job.

4. Set Goals with  Deadline.

Goals determine how far you go. Human beings are goal seeking organism. We are built to function at our best when we have goals we are pursuing.  It is not good enough to say I want to become successful. In what? Where? When? Goals are not goals without a deadline.  It’s been said that “success is goals, and all else is commentary.”

5. Think Big.

What a man can conceive, he can achieve. So don’t place a limit on whom or what you can be by your thoughts. The limit to what you can achieve in life is limitless. So don’t play it small. Let your imagination roam wild. Let your imagination take you around the world. “Remember that the only limit to your capabilities is the one you place upon them. There is no law of limitation” Said Robert Collier.

6. Talk Big.

Your mouth rules your world. Whatever that is not bigger than your mouth is not bigger than your life. Words are capital. Start talking big; talk your way to stardom. People will gauge you by the strength of your words. I am not saying you should be proud or arrogant, the point I am making is to make your words consistent with the future you desire. E. W Kenyon noted: Your life rises or falls to the level of your confession.

7. Act Big

It is not enough to think or talk big; you must also begin to act big. Let your action be consistent with the picture of the future you have seen about yourself. For instance if you intend to become the President of your Country, start talking and acting like a President. If you intend to become a billionaire, start acting like one. Remember one of the ancient principles of success is “be-ing should precedes do-ing’. From today, irrespective of what you are, how you look, where you are coming from, starting acting your future not your past.

8. Welcome Feedback.

Feedback is a response that put us on the line in our journey to greatness. High achievers solicit for feedback,  honour and respect it. Don’t fight feedback; be humble so you don’t stumble.

9. Respect Your Words.

That is another way of defining integrity. Honesty is still the best policy. Make your words your boundary. Honour agreements. Be known as a straight forward person. Respect commitment. Remember the words of Marcus Antonius, “ Truth is always strong, no matter how weak it looks and falsehood is always weak no matter how strong it looks.”

10. Build Your Life around God.

It’s only a fool who thinks he doesn’t need the assistance of God, don’t be one. Let God help you. There is a reference in the Bible that states “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path” God is the highest achiever, it’s wisdom if you make Him your intimate friend!

I hope these principles help you become a high flying achiever in your generation.
