What My Mentor Taught Me: Lesson 4-Duyilemi A. Felix

Dr Duyilemi A. Felix with Professor(Mrs) Ayelaigbe

“Why do you think many people live below their potential”

My mentor asked that afternoon in his office.

I think “It’s ignorance sir.” I responded.

“Ignorance, ignorance, hmmm… ignorance” that word “ignorance” My mentor seemed to have a long contemplation before he called that word again, “ignorance”

“Do you know the meaning of ignorance?” My mentor asked.

I presumed the question was hypothetical, so I delayed giving a response.

“You see, the Latin word for ignorance is ignorantia, and it means ‘want of knowledge’”

“It’s not talking about want of general knowledge, it’s talking about want of specific knowledge”

“Specific knowledge”

I leaned forward towards my mentor as I pronounced that two words after him.

“Son” my mentor reclined, “Nobody ever becomes great on general knowledge, it’s only specific knowledge that differentiates men in life. And 80% of the world population lives on general knowledge.”

“Let me tell you a story” continued my mentor…

There was a village in a kingdom. There (in that Kingdom) was living a milkman. His name was Ofibus. Ofibus was called the ignorant man.

He had built his hut far away from his village, in the woods. He loved the quietness of the woods rather than the noisy atmosphere of the village.

He lived in his hut with his two cows. He fed them well and took proper care of them. Every day he took the two cows to a nearby lake to bath them. The two cows gave more milk. With the milk that the two cows gave, he earned enough money to live happily.

Ofibus was an honest man. Though he was content, at times he would be restless. “There is so much wrong and evil in this world. Is there nobody to guide the people?" he was constantly burdened by this thought.

One evening, the ignorant man, Ofibus was returning home after selling milk in the village. He saw a saint sitting under a tree and meditating. He slowly walked up to him and waited for the saint to open his eyes. He was happy to be with the saint for some time. He decided to wait there itself till the saint opened his eyes.

After a while, the saint slowly opened his eyes. He was surprised to see a man patiently sitting beside him.

“What do you want?" asked the saint humbly.

“I want to know what the path to Truth? Where shall I find Honesty?" asked Ofibus.

The saint smiled and said, “Go to the pond nearby and ask the fish the same question. It will give you the answer."

Ofibus went to the nearby pond and asked the same question to the fish.

The fish said, “O kind man! First, bring me some water to drink." Ofibus was surprised. He said,

“You live in water. But you still want water to drink? How strange!"

At this moment, the fish replied, “You are right. And that gives you the answer to your question as well. Truth, Piety and honesty are inside the heart of a man. But being ignorant, he searches for them in the outer world. Instead of wandering here and there, look within yourself and you will find them."

This gave an immense satisfaction to Ofibus. He thanked the fish and walked home a wiser man. He changed the way in which he saw this world as well as himself. From that day, Ofibus never felt restless.

He took his best to carry this message to the rest of his fellow human beings. All his friends accepted him as their master and consulted him to overcome their mental problems. He led them properly.”

“Did you  learn anything from this story” asked my Mentor.

“Yes Sir” I responded.

“What’s it?” My Mentor asked.

“Ignorance is want of knowledge that is already within us” I calmly responded.

“Yes, you are right. Specific Knowledge can only come from within you. General knowledge will make you to be well informed, specific knowledge will transform your life”

“See you next week Wednesday” My Mentor concluded.

“Thank you Sir for your time” I responded with joy!

Dr. Duyilemi A. Felix marks Birthday with a New Book: Success Is In Your DNA!

I’m extremely glad God has added a new year to my life. We need to celebrate God for the gift of life.

You see, it’s been a great journey of faith, inspiration, perseverance, learning and making impact in the lives of people from around the world.

There is so much to be grateful for: great family, awesome friends, insight, ideas, good health, abundance prosperity and peace of mind. God has been good.

It’s been my practice over the years to release a book on my birthday. That is my own birthday gift to the world. Just yesterday, at an event, I met a man who was telling me with a great excitement how my book "Wake Up Your Destiny" has been a tremendous blessing to him. I receive such testimonies almost on daily basis.

So, I will keep writing by the grace of God to share, lift, motivate and inspire people to fulfill their divine mission on earth.

My new book with the title, "SUCCESS Is In YOUR DNA: Unlocking 15 Principles of Unlimited Success" will be available on Amazon today for Worldwide Distribution. However, you can also download it directly from here without having to go through Amazon.

Let Me Introduce you to this book:

Many years ago, a dear brother called me and asked, “Felix, I know you are brilliant, but even if you gained admission to the University Now, who will sponsor you?”

That was an honest question.

I lost my Dad when I was 8 going to 9, we were completely “penniless” at his death. So, money to feed ourselves was scarce not to talk about going to school! But I knew even at that age that I was born to be great!

So, when this man asked, “who will sponsor me even if I gained admission to the University?” I knew that somehow, there will be a way.

Of Course, despite all odds, I went to the University.

Today, I have earned degrees in Education, Science(Chemistry/Physics), Masters in Applied Psychology, Doctoral in Divinity, plus a Leadership Certification from the Ross Business School, University of Michigan. I have written powerful books(this is my 7th one) that are being read across the world, my opinion is being sought after from Government Institutions, Media houses, Schools, Corporate Organizations and Churches, despite the fact that I started with little or nothing.

I mentioned that to say this: Other people’s opinion of you doesn’t have to become your reality. Your DNA is made up of success, and nothing can stop you from being successful if only you can believe.

That is why I wrote this book.

In my earlier book, “It’s In You” I emphasized that everyone is born with the seed of success in him/her. In this book, I want to encourage my readers to bring that seed  out to bless and impact their world.

Everyone desires to be an achiever. Desire to be great is inborn in all of us. If you are reading this book now, my instinct tells me that you desire to live beyond ordinary. I am pleased to tell you that your desire is noble and honorable.

But desire alone is not enough.

A story is told about a young man with a tremendous passion to be an achiever in life. He wanted to make his mark on earth. So, he decided to visit a man who the whole community recognized as a genius-a man with a wealth of experiences.

“What brings you to me?” the elderly man asked

“I want to become successful; I desire to be an achiever” Replied the young man.

The old man smiled and said, “That is very simple, all you need to do is to find out what successful people do, and replicate in your own life”

My assignment in this book is to help you organize a set of principles that will unlock the “success within you.”

You have in you the capacity to succeed. Success is in your DNA. In the words of Zig Ziglar, you were, “designed for accomplishment, engineered for success, and endowed with the seeds of greatness.” You don’t need to settle for “Good Enough Life”, greatness can be yours for the asking!

Read this book meditatively, take immediate actions and watch your life soar!

Larry King once interviewed Bill Gates and asked Gates, “You are the richest man on earth, how were you able to do this?” Bill paused for a moment and said, “I would say I’m lucky, many of my successes came because I was at the right place at the right time” then he added,

“However, many people were also at the right place at the right time, the difference is, I had a vision, and I saw the potential of that place”

You too are at the right place at the right time that is why you are reading this book now; however, I pray that you will see the potential this material carries to alter the rest of your life positively!

I believe you belong to the top. Let this book be your ladder!

Yours Sincerely,

Dr. Duyilemi Akindele Felix
