5 THINGS EXCEPTIONAL PEOPLE DO DAILY.

The secret of great men are hidden in their daily routine- Mike Murdock.

We know them when we see them. They possess carriage that draws people naturally. I call them exceptional people. Their behavior and demeanor set them apart from the majority of people. They didn’t just jump to that lofty height; their position today was as a result of the disposition they have maintained over a period of time. They have a set of habits that daily monitor their progress. If you inculcate these habits, you too can experience grace that trail after these people.

In this article, I will outline 5 things exceptional people do daily, if you are reading this, you are sure on your way!

1.They pray daily.

They are not religious, they are only being wise. Prayer is important to exceptional people. They realize the need for supernatural guidance in their daily affairs. So, “they do the first thing first” in the words of Stephen Covey.  In prayer, they exchange their limited strength to the unlimited strength of God; they table before Him issues of concern and seek His perspective on difficult decisions.  There is also psychological reason why they do this, through prayer, exceptional people prepare and strengthen their psychological readiness for the day. They go out from their closest with positive affectivity that draws good things to them as they begin the day.

2.Read or listen to inspiring material.

They know the impact of energy. They are aware that energy both negative and positive is generated.  Positive energy drives productivity. Negative energy drains productivity and stifles creativity. Exceptional people generate positive energy consciously. They are intentional and deliberate about it. So they fill their minds every morning with uplifting thoughts and inspiring content that empowers their minds to ward off negative thoughts and dis-empowering beliefs that could stifle their creative capacity for the rest of the day.

 3.They Plan their day.

They are incredibly organized. Exceptional people believe that a great day doesn’t just occur; it has to be planned for. So through planning they obey one of Covey’s  7 habits of effective People, “seeing the end from the beginning.” Planning enables them to work with the end in mind.  This is why exceptional people get more done than ordinary people. They apportion their time to important things. They don’t necessary do a lot of things; they only do a lot of things that are important. They don’t only plan their day, they stick to their plan. Exceptional people believe that a day not planned is a day lost.

4.They Create a “Thinking Time”

They work smart. While ordinary people rely heavily on their muscles to get things done, exceptional people rely more on their brains. So, they carefully plan a “Thinking time” to their day. This is important to them. This habit allows them to think through issues, deliberate generate creative ideas and take purposeful action.

5.They are not too serious.

They get more done relaxed than being tensed. They believe that positive affectivity drives productivity. Abraham Lincoln was quoted to say to one of his staff “if you are too serious, you are not wanted here” Exceptional people don’t see work as hard, they see work as fun. They work from informed and enlighten position. They also deliberately create non-threatening work environment for employees to experiment, make mistakes, learn and relax. They hardly break down because they don’t take themselves and their work too serious. They expect to make mistakes, laugh at themselves and learn from their mistakes. Maybe, that is why they are exceptional.

Everybody can become exceptional, even you, if you do what they do.

5  GREAT ATTITUDES OF EXTRA-ORDINARY PEOPLE

Attitude is everything –John C. Maxwell.

A PH.D without a PMA(Positive mental attitude) equals failure. Extra-ordinary people have been known to possess extra-ordinary attitudes. If you have great attitudes nothing can stop you. Conversely, if you have poor attitudes nothing can help you. Attitude is the trademark of success.

It’s a well-documented fact that your altitude in life depends absolutely on your attitude not on your aptitude. Life is what you see. Benjamin Franklin once said, "The sentence which has most influenced my life is, ‘Some persons grumble because God placed thorns among roses. Why not thank God because He placed roses among thorns?’ Many people pray for things to change but what they don’t know is: Things don’t change until we do. Change the way you see things and the things you see will change.

Author Charles Swindoll said: "The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company, a church, a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past, we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string that we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10 percent what happens to me and 90 percent how I react to it. And so it is with you. We are in charge of our attitudes."

Attitude will take you to places that your credentials cannot. A man in Chicago had his store razed by fire; he lost everything in the inferno.  The next day, he went to charred debris left by the fire and set up this optimistic sign “Everything lost except wife, children, and hope. Business will be resumed as usual tomorrow morning." That is the attitude that separate extra-ordinary people from ordinary people.

In this article I will outline FIVE Attitudes of Extra-ordinary people, if you learn and practice them, in time, people will look at you and say “what an extra-ordinary personality you are!” Ok, let’s see them:

1.No problem is too big to solve.

Extra-ordinary people believe that there is no problem too big to solve. They see problems as opportunity to learn, to think and, to grow. J. C Penny -a very successful businessman- once said “I am grateful for all my problems. As each of them was overcome I became stronger and more able to meet those yet to come. I grew on my difficulties” Every problem is 70% solved with right attitude alone. Extra-ordinary people when confronted with a problem, pause, think and decide. They either go through it, around it, under it, or over it. To them, problems are for solving.

2.There is nothing to Fear!

Extra-ordinary people do not walk through life scared. They possess courage: courage to start, courage to continue- and courage to win. If they fail, they learn all they can and launch a comeback. Extra-ordinary people believe that the only thing to fear is fear itself. They don’t go through life afraid, even when they have fears, they don’t allow it to stop them.  Thomas Carlyle observed, “The first duty for a man is still that of subduing fear…a man’s acts are slavish…till he have got fear under feet.”  Well, extra-ordinary people have got fears under their feet and they ride on it to success and achievement in life.

3.Life is Beautiful!

Enthusiasm is the acme of extra-ordinary people. They are full of excitement. Life to them is to be enjoyed not to be endured. They admire the beauty of life. They think life is terrific, exciting and beautiful! Despite the problems around them, they keep positive outlook of life. Emerson wrote: “Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm” Extra-ordinary people begin the day with positive expectations, and handle everything that comes to them throughout the day with grace and calmness. They are never ruffled by little problems or disappointment that comes along the way. They are in charge! Life is fantastic and they choose to enjoy it.

4.Why Worrying when You can Pray?

Extra-ordinary people are aware that worry is a waste of time. They never waste their time indulging in a bad habit of worry. To them, what is there to worry about? They believe miracles happen daily. If there are issues that bother them, they pray about them and leave them to God. Extra-ordinary people believe they are in partnership with God. They see prayer as a privilege not a duty.

5. Yes, I Can!

Extra-ordinary people possess “I can” attitude. Like Apostle Paul, there daily motto is “I can do all things through Christ who lives in me.” They are never afraid to try. Henry Ford possessed this attitude. When Ford decided to produce a V-8 automobile engine, a feat nobody had ever conceived before them. He called his group of engineers to inform them “let’s do this!” The engineers were alarmed and responded “this can’t be done.”

Ford replied “Go to work.”  The engineers started work. Six months went by and they couldn’t go around it. They continued, after a year they still couldn’t do anything. They concluded “this is impossible.” So they went and reported to Ford, “there is no way around this, it is an impossible task” Ford response was “Go right ahead, I want it and I will have it”

Encouraged by the “We Can Attitude” of Henry Ford, the engineers went back to work and as if by a stroke of favour, they got it! They produced the now famous V-8 engine. Extra-ordinary people have one word missing from their dictionary: “IMPOSSIBLE”

You too can move from ordinary to extra-ordinary life if you possess these attitudes!

The Law of Purpose

Duyilemi Akindele Felix

Even  a Cockroach knows that it has a purpose in life!     Myles Munroe

This law states that you are not an accident of a biological evolution; you are on earth for an assignment.

This powerful law explains the fact that nobody becomes great who doesn’t have a conviction of a great purpose for his existence. If a purpose of a thing is not known abuse is inevitable. To be great, you must understand that you have a purpose to fulfill in life.

God puts you here for a reason. You are destined for a destiny. You are assigned to an assignment. God has a purpose in mind while creating you. You are not a purposeless entity!  There is a REASON for you. There is a reason you look the way you look. There is a reason you talk the way you talk. There is a reason you act the way you act.

You are customized and wired with peculiarity to fit in into God’s given destiny. You are not a mishap. You are not an accidental occurrence! God planned your life in advance. He selected your colour, your race, your background, your experiences to align you with your destiny.  You are programmed for a purpose!

·A fish is designed to swim.

·A bird is designed to fly.

·A clock is designed to measure time.

·You are designed for a purpose.

There are books you were born to write. There are songs you were born to sing. There are products you were born to invent. There are discoveries you were born to make. Greatness begins when your purposed is discovered.

Don’t just go through life hoping to just make it till the next day, go through life purposefully. Live the life you were created to live.

Write that book!

Sing that song!

 Take that course!

 Visit that country!

 Open that business!

 Begin that program.

If you are like most people, the question on your mind will be "How do I know my purpose in life?" Here are few clues to your purpose in life:

What do people say about me?

What people say about you may be a clue to your purpose on earth. I am not talking about isolated instances when people pass a passing comment about you. I am talking about a consistently persistent commendation of discerning men around you.

  • Pharaoh told Joseph, there is no man as wise as you. He recognized leadership greatness in Joseph.

  • Abigail could see the King in David even while he was running away from Saul.

  •  Moses’ Mother saw ‘he was not an ordinary child,’ when he was born.

  • Barnabas could “see” the grace of God upon Paul.

  • Ruth saw uncommon greatness in Naomi.

  • Jonathan recognized David when he saw him and gave up his right to the throne for David.

Sometimes, what people see and say about you might be the clue to your purpose or destiny. Start paying attention.

What kinds of questions people usually ask me?

Take inventory of the kinds of questions people usually ask you.

The kind of questions people ask you may indicate the answers God has put in you.

Jesus made most of his greatest statements in response to people’s questions.

Apostle Paul wrote many of his epistles because of the kinds of questions people asked him.

Are people asking you about marriage? Parenting tips? Leadership? Business? Purpose?  Answer to those questions might put you in the part of your destiny.

What problems do people bring to me to solve?

Closely related to the above, is what kinds of problems do people bring to you to solve? The problems you solve are the key to the solutions in you.

Ø  Joseph solved economic problem in Egypt.

Ø  Nehemiah solved leadership problem in Israel.

Ø   Daniel solved political problem in Babylon.

What do people admire about me?

What people admire about you may be a clue to the beauty your life is meant to create. For a long time, people have admired my oratorical abilities. When I talked I seemed to gain people’s attention. However, it’s not until I gave my life to Christ, that I discovered I was born to talk. Not careless talk. I was born to change lives, release destinies and transform nations with words! That is my Purpose. That is my destiny. That is my life assignment. And I have started. I give glory to God that today several lives in many countries around the world have been blessed through my words

What do people hate about me?

Sometimes, what people hate about you may be a clue to what you are meant to pursue in life. People may hate you for talking too much. That may indicate you are destined to become a great speaker. You don’t need to stop talking too much; you only need to start having something worthwhile to say. It’s not everybody that can talk. In fact, talking is a gift.
